This is a careful selection of wines that we love, both from here in Gisborne and from further afield. We have deliberated and argued and squabbled over what to include; there are so many wonderful wines and wineries in New Zealand that it is hard work pruning a rambling wine list back to necessarily modest proportions. A number of older, rarer wines – both red and white - are contained in a Cellar Section at the back. All wines and vintages are subject to availability, and we appreciate your patience if we’re out of one thing or another. Enjoy!
We have a changing selection of wines by the glass, and will happily let you know what is currently on offer. In addition, we have a range of half bottles to give you greater choice:

We believe in supporting locals, especially when their beer far surpasses the mass-produced stuff foisted upon us by extravagant advertising campaigns. We have local, batch~brewed beer from Gisborne’s artisan Sunshine Brewery on tap, with the rest of their range by the bottle. It’s good stuff!
... and also our local cider, made right here in Gisborne :
Harvest Cider $7

To this end, we present for your enjoyment these well-crafted, fresh, uncompromised and unpasteurised beers which we feel will be appreciated by educated palates.
Geoff,
The Sunshine Brewery.
Gisborne Gold
A crisp dry low carb’ pilsner style lager (4% Alc)
A light touch of hop on aroma and flavour, with some length.
Great with spicy food and cheeses.
Reserve Ale
A rich malty Scottish-style red ale (4% Alc)
A Darker beer best served at 12°C. Savour this well-balanced
malt-driven, softly hopped fine ale. Well suited to game and red meats.
Gisborne Green
Brewed for the pilsner purist (5% Alc)
The malt and hop notes are intensified, imparting a lingering finish.
Pairs well with seafood.
Black Magic
A full-bodied Stout (5% Alc)
Rich with flavour – vanilla, chocolate, coffee and praline notes.
Best served at 14°C. Geoff suggests a match with a chocolate dessert.
Otherwise a cut of beef or venison will do very nicely. And a cigar for after.
Gisborne Gold is available on tap or by the bottle, with the rest of the range available
in either 330 ml or 1 Liter bottles.
For those requiring a low-alcohol beer we have Amstel Light (2.5 % Alc)

The Fromm Winery in Marlborough has quietly earned itself a reputation for what are consistently among the most delicious Rieslings in the country. They range from tight, perfectly balanced dry wines, through the clean, mouth-watering sweeter Spatlese and Auslese styles, to the rare Beerenauslese, and, once, in 1998, a Trockenbeerenauslese. Hatsch Kalberer, the winemaker at Fromm, first made wines in New Zealand here in Gisborne at Matawhero in the 1980’s. Fromm is renowned also for its age-worthy Pinot Noirs and concentrated, minerally Chardonnays.
Gewurztraminer is one of the varieties which Gisborne does best. Our warm climate, long summers & alluvial soils produce rich, ripe fruit to challenge some of the fine wines of Alsace. The Stonebridge Gewurztraminer is a good example at a reasonable price; Vinoptima is arguably the region’s finest wine.
